Hello Fall!
It's official! Fall is in the air! We've even had one day in the 40's and that's RARE for Georgia! For me it means getting out all the fall decor and getting busy! I admit I love changing things up for each season. My grandmother actually had two sets of curtains for her family room--blue/green tones for spring and summer and gold/orange tones for fall and winter! There was always a big "to-do" when fall rolled around and it was time to make the change. So I guess it runs in the family!
One way I keep the tradition alive is to decorate my fireplace mantel to reflect the season. If you have kids, that means adding some Halloween accents!
We went with some pumpkins, of course, sunflowers, and watering cans for containers.
Our Gather sign, in grey and ivory, added a fun touch.
Sunflowers and pumpkins...the perfect pairing!
Our friends the crows added the finishing touch!
We also did Mom's mantel while we were at it! We went with an overall white/ivory theme using touches of color here and there to go with her family room decor but also reflect the fall mood...
We actually got our inspiration this year from a day of outdoor clean-up! What to do with the hundreds of pine cones that litter the yard? Paint them, of course! We even bundled several together to make "faux" candles for our candle pillars!
We used a pair of our new 30" shutters as the center piece in front of the mirror that she has on the mantel year round. We then added the candle pillars using the bundles of painted pine cones as candles.
And, a wired berry garland was the perfect back drop for holding the painted pine cones in place along the front edge.
The finishing touch was our painted distressed wood Thanksgiving sign! We're feeling "thankful" and ready for Octoberfest now for sure!
See you next time!
